Description
‘Donkey stones and gossip’ by Tom Brown.
Donkey Stones were used on doorsteps and flagged floors to give a decorative finish. It was not very durable and would have to be done on a regular basis, you could expect a ‘clout’ for spoiling a freshly ‘stoned’ step. The donkey stones were often given in exchange for old clothes or scrap metal by ‘Rag tatters’ or ‘Rag and bone men’ as they were sometimes called.
From the original pastel by Tom Brown, depicting life in his home in Salford. The print has an image size of 25 x 36cm and supplied with a 40 x 50cm mount.
The print has been registered with the Fine Art Trade Guild as an ArtSure approved, open-edition giclee print.
