Working with our customers is important to us, it ensures that we can supply you with the level of service and support you want and high quality prints when you want them.

From a large stretched frame canvas to a small A5 greeting card, we do not impose a minimum order and we can supply as many prints as you want, when you want. The flexible approach of JAK fine-art printing is aimed at meeting your requirements, for example, we can produce a greeting card that is designed to fit your image – no cropping of your image to fit a standard sized card. Alternatively you may want a large print that contains a number of images – we can do that too. Let us know what you want and we will do what we can to meet your requirements.

disc
Scan to disk

We scan your artwork using a calibrated flatbed high resolution (optical) scanner and supply a CD with the image in both JPEG and TIFF formats with Adobe RGB (1998) and a file size of 300dpi (the standard file size required by printers). Each scan is checked and any blemishes (dust, finger marks, scratches etc) are digitally removed.

Photography.

Large or delicate artwork can be difficult to transport. A  professional photographic service is now available from Yew Tree Imagery.  They offer a mobile photographic service and produce high resolution images with a fully colour controlled work flow.

colour-dropper
Colour proofing

This service is recommended for artists or photographers who wish to sell prints, or where we do not have the original to use as a reference.  We supply up to A4 size prints on the specified paper and any printing will only commence once the proof has been approved. JAK fine-art printing implements a quality control process to obtain the best print possible; the colour proof will only be submitted for your approval once we have completed our procedures.

Prints

The printer:
All of the prints produced by JAK Fine-art printing are produced using Canon “Lucia” pigment based inks. This consists of a 12 ink set-up (including two blacks) with the addition of red and green inks for improved colour matching and light and dark greys for improved Black & White reproductions. The Canon printer also has a built-in self calibration feature that ensures that each colour (print head) is printing the right amount of ink. In addition, being pigment based, these inks offer excellent light resistance.

The papers:
All of the papers have been personally selected from the Hahnemühle and Canon ranges to offer a range of textures and gloss levels. In addition we also offer a Canvas Textile effect card from Innova, as an alternative to canvas, for producing greeting cards. More information on our papers can be found on our paper range page. If you have a preference for a paper that is not listed, let us know and we will do what we can to meet your requirements.

We can meet your print requirements for single prints, open and limited editions. If you have any specific requirements such as a border or title to be added we will send you an e-mail of the image first, once you’re happy we will print the order.

Limited Editions – Let us know the maximum number of prints you require, we supply the prints as and when required and let you know when the maximum number has been reached. Once this number has been reached we erase all of our digital files for that edition.

Open Editions – No limit on the maximum number of prints. We supply the prints as and when required.

stretched-canvas
Stretched frame canvases

Our stretcher frames are made with kiln dried pine with a 20mm depth. The canvases can be supplied as follows:

Plain – the edge of the frame is left as plain canvas.

Border – the canvas has a coloured border that covers the edge of the frame.

Gallery wrap – the image extends to wrap over the edge of the frame.

For frames over 70cm long we add a cross support bar (included in the price). The prints are also coated with a varnish that further protects the print from UV light.

greetings
Greeting Cards

We offer all of our papers for greeting cards and Canvas Textile Paper as an alternative to canvas. The sizes quoted refer to the whole card (front and back). When printing at these sizes it may be necessary to crop the image, we take care to ensure that any cropping is kept to a minimum. Alternatively we can adjust the card size to suit the image.
All cards are creased to prevent the paper fibres from splitting and the cost includes a plain white envelope.

support
